Lenoir-Rhyne University Athletics

Micha Baumfeld was promoted to Lenoir-Rhyne Baseball's Associate Head Coach in the Fall of 2025. He joined the Bears prior to the 2023 season as their pitching coach after spending 10 seasons as the head coach at Georgetown (KY). 

During his four years on staff, Lenoir-Rhyne has posted a record of 155-66-1 and advanced to the national semi-finals in 2025. 

Lenoir-Rhyne had yet another successful season in 2026, finishing with a 37-13-1 (23-9-1 SAC) record. The pitching staff saw four individuals named to the All-SAC teams, with Kellen Gradisar and Jack Renaud being named to the All-Southeast Region team. Gradisar continues to move his way up the Lenoir-Rhyne record books as the three-year starter ranks third all-time in wins and seventh in career ERA. As a team the Bears held a 5.17 ERA, which ranked second in the SAC behind national semi-finalist Catawba.

In 2025 Lenoir-Rhyne won their first ever Southeast Regional Championship and advanced to the national semi-finals. Andrew Harlow set the school record for single-season strikeouts (125) while the team finished second in school history with 562 on the year. The Bears won a school record 50 games in 2025, capping off a three-year stretch of winning seasons with Baumfeld as their pitching coach. Harlow, William Girardi, and Kellen Gradisar all rank in the Lenoir-Rhyne top-3 for wins and starts in a single season.

The 2024 Bears went 30-22 (16-14 SAC) and advanced to their fourth SAC Tournament in a row. Dillon Chapa was named to the All-SAC Second Team while freshman Kellen Gradisar was an All-SAC Third Team honoree.

During his first year in Hickory, Baumfeld helped the Bears to a 38-16 (15-9 SAC) record and four ranked wins, including over No. 1 ranked North Greenville. Starting pitchers Andrew Patrick and Jackson Reid combined to go 12-3 and were each named to the All-SAC team.

In 10 seasons as the head coach for theGeorgetown (KY) Tigers, Baumfeld led the program to four NAIA Regionals, including the program's first NAIA World Series in 26 years in 2014. The Tigers also won their first ever Mid-South Conference Championship 2014. Overall, Baumfeld went 328-165 (.670) in his 10 seasons, and his teams set virtually every record in the program's history. 

Baumfeld was the pitching coach at Georgetown for two years before being promoted to head coach, and when he started as pitching coach, the Tigers' pitching staff was ranked No. 79 in the country. In just two seasons, Baumfeld transformed the staff to reach No. 1 in the nation in 2012, his first year as head coach. 

In ten full seasons at Georgetown, Baumfeld coached the first NAIA pitcher taken in the 2018 MLB Draft (Shawn Dubin, Houston Astros), and two First-Team All-Americans. He also had two Honorable Mention All-Americans, two Mid-South Players of the Year, two Mid-South Pitchers of the Year, and 23 First-Team All-Conference players (13 pitchers).

Baumfeld is a 2003 graduate of Medialle College (NY), where he was a member of the baseball team. He and his wife Amanda have two sons, Landen and Seaver.
