Newberry Defeats Lenoir-Rhyne, 3-1, In The Quarterfinals Of
The 2007 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Tournament
Bears end the season at 18-16
Jefferson City, Tenn. – The Newberry College Volleyball Team defeated
Lenoir-Rhyne (18-16, 6-8), 3-1 (30-28, 31-29, 20-30, 30-24), in the first round
of the 2007 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Tournament Friday afternoon at
Carson-Newman.
L-R saw three players hit in double figures and was led by sophomore outside
hitter Jordan Ledford (Newton, N.C./Fred T. Foard HS) who tallied the
Bears’ only double-double with 15 kills and 11 digs.
Senior setter Lauren McLelland (Statesville, N.C./West Iredell HS)
dished out 48 assists and senior libero Catherine Fulton (Hendersonville,
N.C./Hendersonville HS) had 17 digs in their final match as Bears.
Newberry was led by Priscilla Sales who tallied a double-double (19 kills, 10
digs).
The Bears finished the season in fifth-place in the South Atlantic
Conference.
