Atlantic Conference Volleyball Action
Three Bears reach double figures in kills in the win
Hickory, N.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne College Volleyball Team (17-14, 5-7)
swept Carson-Newman College (18-9, 2-9) by a score of 3-0 (30-27, 30-28, 30-21)
in South Atlantic Conference action Friday night at Shuford Memorial Gymnasium.
The Bears were led by freshman middle blocker Caroline Albertelli
(Plantation, Fla./Chaminade Madonna Prep) with 12 kills and a .360 hitting
percentage (12-3-25).
Junior middle blockers Katie Novacek (Raleigh, N.C./Cardinal Gibbons
HS) and Abby Smith (Virginia Beach, Va./Salem HS) had 11 and 10 kills,
respectively, for the match.
Senior setter Lauren McLelland (Statesville, N.C./West Iredell HS)
dished out 40 assists for the Bears, who hit .237 as a team.
The Lady Eagles were led by setter Stephanie Cutter (Murfreesboro, Tenn.),
who tallied the lone double-double of the match (26 assists, 11 digs).
Katie Troyer (Plain City, Ohio) and Kelsey Fleck (Celina, Ohio) led the Eagle
attack as they tallied 14 and 10 kills, respectively, for Carson-Newman.
L-R will have six days off before their next match, a home contest against
Tusculum next Friday, Nov. 2 at 7:00 p.m., while C-N will host Mars Hill on
Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
