Lenoir-Rhyne Volleyball Sweeps Montreat, 3-0
Bears have never lost to the Lady Cavaliers in 15 games
Hickory, N.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne College Volleyball Team (13-9) swept
Montreat College (9-12), 3-0, by scores of 30-18, 30-15 and 30-19 Tuesday
evening at Shuford Memorial Gymnasium.
Lenoir-Rhyne, which has beaten Montreat in all 15 games between the two schools,
held a 20-0 advantage in service aces and was led by sophomore outside hitter
Kassi Henry (Denver, N.C./East Lincoln HS) with 12 kills on the night.
Junior middle blocker Katie Novacek (Raleigh, N.C./Cardinal Gibbons HS)
added 11 kills and senior setter Lauren McLelland (Statesville, N.C./West
Iredell HS) dished out 37 assists to go along with 10 digs as the Bears were
just two service aces away from a school record.
For Montreat, Danny Bowers (Sylva, N.C.) led the squad with nine kills and 11
digs.
Lenoir-Rhyne next travels to Greeneville, Tenn., to take on Tusculum College in
a South Atlantic Conference match Friday at 7 p.m.
