Michelle Baity enters her fourth
season as assistant coach for
the volleyball team at
Lenoir-Rhyne College after a
two-year hiatus (2005-2006).
During her absence from L-R,
Baity began working for Maple Leaf Health Care in Statesville, N.C. as an
Occupational Therapist and Director of Therapy. She will continue to work for
Maple Leaf in addition to her coaching responsiblities at Lenoir-Rhyne
Baity has been instrumental
in the program’s history, guiding the team to three straight winning seasons in
her last three years as a collegian (1999-2001).
The 2002 graduate is the most
decorated player in school history and holds 15 Lenoir-Rhyne records for kills
and attempts.
She was named to the
All-South Atlantic Conference first-team all four seasons as a Bear volleyball
player.
Baity, the 1998 SAC Freshman
of the Year, was also selected to the First-team Lutheran College All-American
team and the 2001 Verizon Academic All-District III women’s volleyball team.
She was also chosen as the Lenoir-Rhyne Female Athlete of the Year in 2001 and
was a member of the SAC Commissioner’s Honor Roll.
Baity played for three
seasons at Forbush High School in East Bend, N.C. As a prep, she was a
three-time All-Mountain Valley 2A Conference performer and was named MVP of the
1997 conference tournament. Her team won the NCHSAA 2A State Championship when
she was a junior and a senior. She also played for the Yadkin Valley Club team
for three seasons and lettered three times in softball and twice in basketball.
Baity is also a 2005 graduate of Lenoir-Rhyne’s masters of business
administration program.
