2008 Camps

CAMP GOALS
Youth
Each camper will receive individual instruction in the fundamental skills of serving, passing, setting and attacking.  Basic team formations of serve receive, offense and defense will be covered during the practice and tournament play.

Team
Team camp will provide members of middle school, junior high and senior high teams the opportunity to train together, while refining their individual volleyball skills.  Emphasis will be placed on team concepts with blocks of time allotted for team practice.  Team competition will be scheduled each afternoon and evening.

Individual
Individual camp is designed to teach and refine the fundamentals while focusing on the more advanced skills and techniques of volleyball.  Each camper will participate in team competition against other players of similar age and ability.

Site Clinics
Coach Markland and a member of his staff will come to your school.  As a coach, you may select the areas of skill to be covered and the amount of emphasis to be placed on each.  Site clinics provide six hours of instruction daily and range from one to three days in length.

ELIGIBILITY
Youth Camp:  Fourth - Sixth Grade
Team Camp:  Middle School, Junior High and High School
Individual Camp:  Sixth Grade - graduating seniors
Site Clinics:  Fourth Grade - graduating seniors

*Camps/clinics are open to female applicants on a first come basis with deposit.  Early registration is encouraged.

STAFF
The camps will be directed by Lenoir-Rhyne Head Coach Dave Markland.  Now in his fifth year as Head Coach at Lenoir-Rhyne, Markland has led the Bears to two South Atlantic Conference Championships and one NCAA Division II South Regional appearance.  Selected as the SAC Coach Of The Year in 2004 and 2006, Markland's overall record at Lenoir-Rhyne stands at 108-68.

The camp staff will also consist of members of Lenoir-Rhyne volleyball team, former collegiate players and current collegiate, high school and junior high school coaches.    


HOUSING AND MEALS
Overnight campers will be housed in a residence hall on the Lenoir-Rhyne campus.  There will be constant supervision by qualified staff.  Balanced meals will be served in the campus cafeteria.

HEALTH AND CODE OF CONDUCT
Campers will be covered by a limited accident/illness insurance policy.  A release for treatment/indemnity agreement and code of conduct must be signed by parent and participant.  Special health conditions must be disclosed.  There will be a qualified trainer on hand at all times.

COST
The cost includes lodging, meals, instruction, limited accident/illness insurance and camp shirt.

Youth Day Camp:  $150.00 per person

Team Camp: 
$295.00 per person (resident), $225.00 per person (day)

Team Camp is for teams of seven (7) players or more.  Coaches are encouraged to attend and will be provided room, meals and a camp shirt at no cost.  Additional coaches accompanying a team may participate for the cost of $100.00 per coach.

Individual Camp:  $325.00 per person (resident), $250.00 per person (day)

Site Clinic:  

$50.00 per person (one day) 
$100.00 per person (two days)
$150.00 per person (three days)

STEPS FOR REGISTRATION
One:
Download the registration form from the link at the top of the page.  All areas must be completed and signed.  Be sure to check the appropriate box indicating the camp(s) you will be attending, and if you will be a Resident or a Day Camper.

Team camp applications should be completed by the Head Coach.  Player registration forms will be sent upon receipt of the application.

Two:
Mail the completed registration form and a $50.00 non-refundable deposit to reserve a spot in the camp.  This payment will apply toward the total cost of camp.

Team Camp applicants must include a total deposit of $50.00 for each player which will be applied to the team balance.

Three:
Once your application has been received and processed, a complete packet of information will be mailed.  This confirmation packet will include a release for treatment/medical indemnity form, code of conduct form, receipt and other information related to your program.
