Lenoir-Rhyne's Lamont Savage Qualifies For The NCAA Division
II National Championship In Men's Track And Field
Freshman Tiaera Reynolds is the meet's most valuable runner
Banner Elk, N.C. - Lenoir-Rhyne freshman Lamont Savage (Salisbury,
N.C./West Rowan HS) qualified for the NCAA Division II National Championship in
the long jump and freshman Tiaera Reynolds (Greensboro, N.C./James B.
Dudley HS) was named the most valuable runner at the Tri-Conference
Championship/Bobcat Open held this past weekend on the campus of Lees-McRae
College in Banner Elk, N.C.
As a team, the men's squad was the top South Atlantic Conference team with
159 points while the women's team was third in the SAC (138 points).
Savage finished first in the long jump (24 feet) while Reynolds won the long
jump (17'4 feet), triple jump (34'7 feet) and 400 meters (58.32 seconds).
Freshmen Jacob Lane (Walnut Cove, N.C./South Stokes HS) and Hamilton
Borden (Louisville, Tenn./William Blount HS) finished first and second in
the shot put at 49'8 and 48'4 feet, respectively, while freshman Kristen
Fulmer (Bradenton, Fla./Lakewood Ranch HS) won in the high jump (5'2
feet).
The NCAA Division II National Championships will be held at Johnson C. Smith
University in Charlotte, N.C., on May 24 and 26.
