Atlantic Conference Action
Freshman Ashley Halvorson wins Bears’ lone match of the day
Hickory, N.C. – The Tusculum College Women’s Tennis Team (8-1, 1-0) defeated
Lenoir-Rhyne College (2-3, 1-1) by a score of 8-1 Tuesday in South Atlantic
Conference action at Hickory High School’s Laurie Newman Tennis Center.
Ashley Halvorson (Southlake, Texas/Carroll HS) led Lenoir-Rhyne as she
picked up the Bears’ lone win of the day at No. 3 singles (6-3, 6-1).
Tusculum was led by Jennifer Sparks (Missouri City, Texas), who took a
three-set No. 1 singles win (6-3, 2-6, 7-5) while Caroline Crowe (Johnson City,
Tenn.) and Katelyn Doss (Bristol, Va.) won No. 1 doubles 8-5.
Lenoir-Rhyne’s next match will be a home doubleheader against Spartanburg
Methodist on Friday afternoon at 2:30 p.m.
