Wingate Men’s Tennis Downs Lenoir-Rhyne,
9-0, In South Atlantic Conference Action
Bears play their first match since 1998
Wingate, N.C. - The Wingate University Men’s Tennis
Team (4-3, 1-0) opened South Atlantic Conference play by defeating Lenoir-Rhyne
College (0-1, 0-1), 9-0, Thursday afternoon at the Wingate University tennis
facility.
The match was a historic return for the Bears, it was the
first men’s tennis match played in 10 years under the Lenoir-Rhyne moniker. L-R
discontinued men’s tennis following the 1998 season.
The match was also Director of Tennis Bobby McKee’s
first as mentor of the men’s squad.
Lenoir-Rhyne will play its first home match of the season
Friday when it hosts Brevard at 2:00 p.m.
