Lenoir-Rhyne Women’s Swimming Announces Awards
For Inaugural Season
Mary Ellen
Stephens named most valuable swimmer
Hickory, N.C. – The
Lenoir-Rhyne College Women’s Swimming Team has chosen award winners for its
inaugural season, Head Coach Paul Schiffel announced today.
Sophomore Mary Ellen Stephens
(Greensboro, N.C./Southeast Guilford HS) was named the most valuable swimmer as
she set six school records (five relay, one individual) last season.
Sophomore Jessy Barriger
(Taylorsville, N.C./Alexander Central HS) received the performance award for her
win in the 200 IM at Pfeiffer on Oct. 19, 2007. The win was the first event win
in program history.
Sophomore Muriah Bottemiller
(Montgomery, Ala./Montgomery Catholic Prep) was named most improved swimmer.
The team also has elected captains
for next season; they will be Stephens and junior Alisha Huettig
(Franklin, N.C./Franklin HS).
The Bears now await signing day, as
the first formal recruiting period is coming to a close. A list of signees will
be released as soon as it is available.
