L-R Women's Swimming Splits Dual Meet With Wingate And St. Andrews Presbyterian

Lenoir-Rhyne defeats St. Andrews Presbyterian but falls to Wingate

Wingate, N.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne College Women's Swimming Team split a tri-meet with No. 23 Wingate and St. Andrews Presbyterian Saturday afternoon at the Wingate University Natatorium.

Lenoir-Rhyne defeated St. Andrews Presbyterian, 49-42, but fell to Wingate by a 64-26 score.

For the Bears, three swimmers placed second in three different events:  sophomore Jessy Barriger (Taylorsville, N.C.) in the 100-meter Butterfly with a time of 1:06.72, senior Nicole Ley (Cupertino, Calif.) in the 100-meter Backstroke at 1:06.09 and freshman Emily Fowler (Kernersville, N.C.) in the 100-meter Breaststroke with a time of 1:23.02.

Lenoir-Rhyne's 200-Free Relay also placed second after finishing with a 2:16.71.

Lenoir-Rhyne next competes in the Bluegrass Mountain Conference Championships beginning Wednesday, February 13, in Charlotte, N.C.
