Joel Krenz joined the Lenoir-Rhyne staff as the Assistant Athletic Director for Media and Communications in the Summer of 2024.
Krenz comes to Lenoir-Rhyne after three years at Kentucky Wesleyan College in Owensboro, Kentucky. Originally the Director of Communications at KWC, Krenz was promoted to Assistant Athletic Director for Strategic Communications and Fan Engagement at the beginning of 2024. While at Wesleyan, Krenz was instrumental in orchestrating a partnership with Sidearm Sports to create the Panther Athletics App, giving Panther fans easier access to all their favorite teams. He upgraded their presence on social media, used the help of students to put together one of the top broadcasts in the G-MAC, and was on the conference’s championship committee.Â
In addition to his duties at Wesleyan, Krenz was the official scorer for the NCAA DII Men's Basketball Elite Eight in 2023 and 2024, he helped stat the Kentucky 2A and Tennessee state championships, and has ran over 15 conference championships
Krenz received a Master’s in Educational Leadership from Winona State University in 2021, where he was an athletic communications graduate assistant. He graduated with his Bachelors in Communications from Concordia University Chicago in 2019, where he was a four-year member of the men’s soccer team.
He is from Hoffman, Illinois and graduated from Christ Our Rock Lutheran High School, where he played soccer, basketball, and ran track. He is the son of Rev. Dr. Stephen and Lisa Krenz, and has one sister, Anna.Â
