Shena Hollar is beginning
her first year as Lenoir-Rhyne’s
Assistant Director of
Intercollegiate Athletics
and fourth as Senior Woman
Administrator.
As SWA, Hollar is the
highest ranking female
official in the department
and oversees all nine female
varsity sports.
In May of 2007, Hollar won
the prestigious Student
Government Association
Presidents Award for her
service to the community.
Hollar’s work as Senior
Woman Administrator includes
her advising role with the
Student-Athlete Advisory
Council.
SAAC, the NCAA-mandated
student-athlete study group,
works with several charity
groups within the community
to raise money for
philanthropy. Lenoir-Rhyne’s
annual Rock-A-Thon raised a
record $1,175 dollars for
the Make-A-Wish Foundation
in April of 2007.
In addition to her duties as
SWA, Hollar also heads up
Lenoir-Rhyne’s
nationally-ranked softball
team.
Hired prior to the 2000
season, Hollar has compiled
a 313-116-2 mark as Bear
mentor and is the school’s
all-time winningest coach.
Under Hollar, L-R has
captured four South Atlantic
Conference Regular Season
Championships (2000, 2004,
2006 and 2007) and four
SAC/Food Lion Tournament
Titles (2000, 2001, 2002 and
2007).
Hollar also led Lenoir-Rhyne
to its first-ever NCAA
Division II Playoff berth
after qualifying in 2002 and
made return trips in 2006
and 2007.
This past year, Lenoir-Rhyne
posted a 48-10 mark and
captured both the SAC
Regular Season and
Tournament Championships.
In 2006, the Bears put
together a 52-12-1 record
and a runner-up finish at
the NCAA Division II South
Atlantic Regional.
Prior to L-R, Hollar coached
two years at Newberry
(1998-99) while compiling a
45-61 mark and earning a
share of the 1999 South
Atlantic Conference Regular
Season Championship.
Hollar received her
undergraduate degree from
Wingate University in 1996.
Hollar and her husband,
David, reside in
Taylorsville, N.C.
