One squad advances to the quarterfinals

Cullowhee, N.C. - The Lenoir-Rhyne Women’s Soccer Team traveled to Western Carolina University this past Saturday to compete in a seven-versus-seven spring tournament.

The Bears entered two teams which competed against Jacksonville State University, Gardner-Webb, Newberry College, Carson-Newman College, East Tennessee State University, Western Carolina University and USC Upstate.

The girls had a great day of competition, full of well-earned goals and relentless team effort.

Team One for L-R pulled off a victory against East Tennessee State and tied USC Upstate, both NCAA Division I Programs. Team Two for the Bears tied Gardner-Webb, another NCAA Division I Team.

With the conclusion of Western Carolina’s seven-versus-seven tournament and a team making it to the quarterfinals of the tournament, the Bears closed out the spring season on a positive note.

In the fall, the Bears will be joined by nine incoming players and together they will look to make a run for the South Atlantic Conference Championship.
