UNC Pembroke Women’s Soccer Shuts Out Lenoir-Rhyne, 2-0
Bears lose despite holding a 22-7 advantage in shots
Hickory, N.C. – The UNC Pembroke Women’s Soccer Team (9-5-1) shut out
Lenoir-Rhyne College (6-7-2), 2-0, Wednesday afternoon at Bears Field.
Lefke Boysen (Bremen, Germany) tallied a goal and an assist and goalkeeper
Whitney Beverly (Richlands, N.C.) stopped 10 shots to pick up the shutout win to
lead UNC Pembroke.
After a scoreless first half, the Braves got on the board in the 51st minute
after Alex McManus (Jacksonville, N.C.) scored from the right side off a pass
from Boysen.
Boysen scored UNC Pembroke’s second goal at the 70:37 mark from the left side
of the goal. Jamie Clarke (Jacksonville, N.C.) was credited with the assist.
Lenoir-Rhyne lost despite holding a 22-7 advantage in shots.
Bear senior Nicole Ley (Cupertino, Calif./Monta Vista HS) suffered the
loss in goal.
Lenoir-Rhyne next travels to Mars Hill, N.C., to face Mars Hill College in a
South Atlantic Conference match on Saturday beginning at 7 p.m.
