Lenoir-Rhyne Men’s Soccer Claims Two 7-vs-7 Titles This
Spring
Hickory, N.C. - The L-R men’s soccer program has been working hard
this spring and they have seen their work pay off by winning two 7-vs-7
tournaments this spring.
On March 15, the Bears attended the St. Andrews Presbyterian College 7’s in
Laurinburg, N.C. and defeated Barton College Alumni, Mount Olive College, St.
Andrews College, and Jose Lopez Club team. In the final, the Bears were tied,
1-1, with UNC Pembroke with 5 minutes to play when lightning halted play. Both
teams finished as ‘co-champions’.
On March 29, the Bears headed to eastern North Carolina and attended the
Mount Olive College 7-vs-7 Tournament. L-R played some great soccer and defeated
Mount Olive College Alumni, Cape Fear Community College, and Barton College in
the group stages.
In the semi-finals, L-R defeated the Barton College Alumni and then the Mount
Olive College Alumni in the final, 3-0.
The Bears only conceded only one goal the whole tournament and showed fine
displays throughout the day.
Next up for the Bears will be the annual spring Alumni game on Saturday,
April 19 at 11:45 a.m.
