Mark Powers begins his fifth year as an assistant coach
for the Lenoir-Rhyne Men’s
Soccer Team.
Originally from Albuquerque,
N.M., Powers graduated from
Belmont Abbey College in
2001 with an undergraduate
degree in sociology and is
finishing his master's degree in
counseling from
Lenoir-Rhyne.
As a member of the Crusaders Men’s Soccer Team,
Powers was a four-year
starter, earned
all-conference honors and
served as captain his senior
campaign.
Powers has served as
director of coaching at
several local clubs and is
currently a head trainer
with the Catawba Valley
Youth Soccer Association (CVYSA).
Powers, who holds a USSF “B”
license, is also heavily
involved with the North
Carolina Olympic Development
Pool (ODP), serving as both
as an evaluator and
“Centers” coach.
In addition to his duties as
L-R, Powers also works at
Fred T. Foard High School in
Newton, N.C.
