Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Lacrosse Votes For Its 2012 Captains
Senior Stevie Dellinger and Hayley Beattie named the captains for the Bears this season
Hickory, N.C. - The Lenoir-Rhyne University Women's Lacrosse Team has voted for senior Stevie Dellinger (Morganton, N.C.) and sophomore Hayley Beattie (Lebanon, N.J.) as its captains for the 2012 season. This year marks the second season in the program's young history and first under Head Coach Sue Reuschle.
Dellinger, who was introduced to the sport of lacrosse just over a year ago, has been a leader since she stepped onto the field. Dellinger's experience playing several different sports, along with her natural athleticism, has given her the edge needed to be a great competitor and great captain.
During the 2011 season, Dellinger started every game for the Bears and tallied 22 goals and four assists and was second on the team with 37 ground balls. Those impressive statistics earned her team Rookie-of-the-Year honors.
As a strong defensive midfielder, Stevie (Dellinger) will be a key part of the Bears' defense and transition this year.
Sophomore Hayley Beattie (Lebanon, N.J.) was also a big presence on the field for Lenoir-Rhyne in its inaugural season. Beattie wrapped up her freshman campaign with 24 goals, eight assists and 14 caused turnovers.
As a leader in the midfield and ending the season with 40 ground balls, Beattie made her presence known. Beattie's tireless effort and leadership on the field earned her team MVP honors last season.
As captains, Dellinger and Beattie will work together to lead L-R in its second lacrosse season. Both young ladies lead by example and they always show their determination, hard work and positive attitude.
