Wingate Leads After Day One Of The L-R/Myrtle Beach Women's
Golf Intercollegiate
Lenoir-Rhyne currently eighth out of 15 schools after 18 holes of play
Little River, S.C. - Wingate University shot a 319 (+31) Monday to
lead after day one of the 2008 Lenoir-Rhyne/Myrtle Beach Women's Golf
Intercollegiate at River Hills Golf & Country Club in Little River, S.C.
Wingate leads Queens (326, +38) by seven strokes while the host school,
Lenoir-Rhyne (340, +52), is currently eighth of out 15 teams.
Individually, Wingate's Ashley Denton (Wendall, N.C.) shot a 73 (+1) on the
par-72, 5,864 course to lead after 18 holes and has a commanding six-shot
advantage.
Freshman Katie Thackerson (Earl, N.C.) is the Bears' top golfer as she
is tied for sixth place overall with an 80 (+8) after the first round of play.
The second round concludes on Tuesday.
