Lenoir-Rhyne’s Jakin Fox Qualifies For The NCAA Division II
Atlantic/Southeast Super Regional In Men’s Golf
Senior from Statesville, N.C., finished second at the 2008 Food Lion South
Atlantic Conference Tournament Championship
Indianapolis, Ind. – Lenoir-Rhyne senior Jakin Fox has
qualified to compete as an individual at the 2008 NCAA Division II
Atlantic/Southeast Super Regional in Men’s Golf. The tournament will take place
at The Point Lake Golf Club in Belmont, N.C., from May 5-7. Belmont Abbey
College will serve as the host institution.
Fox, a native of Statesville, N.C., and a graduate of West Iredell High
School, recently finished second at the 2008 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference
Tournament and earned Second-Team All-SAC honors this season as well.
Fox, who is second on the team in stroke average this year (74.39), also
earned second-team all-league accolades in 2006 and led the team to its
first-ever South Atlantic Conference Championship and subsequent berth in the
NCAA Division II Regional Tournament that same season.
The top team from each
region within the super regional and the top individual not with a team from
each super regional (regardless of region) will advance to the finals May 14-17
at the NCAA Division II Spring National Championships Festival in Houston,
Texas. The finals will be hosted by Rice University and the Harris
County-Houston Sports Authority.
