Lenoir-Rhyne’s Jakin Fox Qualifies For The NCAA Division II Atlantic/Southeast Super Regional In Men’s Golf

Senior from Statesville, N.C., finished second at the 2008 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Tournament Championship

Indianapolis, Ind. – Lenoir-Rhyne senior Jakin Fox has qualified to compete as an individual at the 2008 NCAA Division II Atlantic/Southeast Super Regional in Men’s Golf. The tournament will take place at The Point Lake Golf Club in Belmont, N.C., from May 5-7. Belmont Abbey College will serve as the host institution.

Fox, a native of Statesville, N.C., and a graduate of West Iredell High School, recently finished second at the 2008 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Tournament and earned Second-Team All-SAC honors this season as well.

Fox, who is second on the team in stroke average this year (74.39), also earned second-team all-league accolades in 2006 and led the team to its first-ever South Atlantic Conference Championship and subsequent berth in the NCAA Division II Regional Tournament that same season.

The top team from each region within the super regional and the top individual not with a team from each super regional (regardless of region) will advance to the finals May 14-17 at the NCAA Division II Spring National Championships Festival in Houston, Texas.  The finals will be hosted by Rice University and the Harris County-Houston Sports Authority.
