Ron Boyd is entering his
third year as Strength and
Conditioning and Offensive
Line Coach for the L-R
Football Team.
Boyd, who was hired in the
spring of 2005, came to L-R
after coaching the previous
seven seasons (1998-2004) at
West Virginia Wesleyan
College in Buckhannon,
W.Va., as Offensive Line
Coach.
During his tenure at West
Virginia Wesleyan, the
Bobcats won a pair West
Virginia Intercollegiate
Athletic Conference (WVIAC)
Championships in 2002 and
2003 and the squad put
together a 17-game winning
streak in the league.
Boyd’s offensive lines at
West Virginia Wesleyan
helped set school records in
single-game, single-season
and career-leading rushers.
During the 2002 and 2003
championship seasons, West
Virginia Wesleyan finished
14th and 20th overall in
NCAA Division II in rushing
with 220 and 214 yards per
game, respectively.
Boyd also coached at West
Virginia Tech (1996-97),
Cumberland College (1995)
and West Virginia Wesleyan
(1993 and 1994), all as
Offensive Line Coach.
Boyd, a native of Delmont,
Pa., and a 1992 graduate of
West Virginia Wesleyan, is a
three-year letterwinner,
two-year starter and team
captain his senior year on
the football squad.
Boyd is an active member of
the American Football
Coaches Association and has
served on several of the
organization’s committees.
