Lenoir-Rhyne’s Genna Eisenmann Qualifies For The 2007 NCAA
Division II Women’s Cross Country National Championships
As a team, the L-R women finished fifth while the men finished sixth
Wingate, N.C. – Lenoir-Rhyne’s Genna Eisenmann (Clayton,
N.C./Clayton HS) qualified for the 2007 NCAA Division II Women’s Cross Country
National Championships. Eisenmann finished fifth overall in the NCAA Division II
Southeast Regional Cross Country meet with a time of 24:04 over the 6,000-meter
course on Saturday. The regional meet was held at Wingate University in Wingate,
N.C.
Eisenmann is the first-ever women's cross country runner to advance to the
national championships.
The national championship race will be held on Saturday, November 17, in
Joplin, Mo. Missouri Southern State University will serve as the host
institution.
As a team, the L-R women finished fifth out of 16 squads. Regional champion
Lees-McRae and host school, Wingate, took the top two spots and will represent the
Southeast Region at the NCAA Championships.
On the men’s side, L-R finished sixth out of 18 teams and was led by
sophomore Brad Popple (Iron Station, N.C./East Lincoln HS). His time of
33:12 over the 10K course was good for 10th place and a spot on the NCAA
Division II All-Southeast Region Team.
The Queens and Mars Hill men’s teams, who finished first and second,
respectively, in the region will compete in the NCAA Championships.
