Lenoir-Rhyne Women’s Basketball Represented Twice At The
2008 NCCA East-West All-Star Game
Incoming freshmen Whitley Culler and Cameron Sealey played for the West
All-Star team
Greensboro, N.C. – Two of Lenoir-Rhyne’s incoming freshmen on the
women’s basketball team competed at the 2008 NCCA East-West All-Star Game Monday
evening at Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, N.C.
The game was the 34th annual contest to hold the moniker of NCCA East-West All
Star Game. The NCCA is the North Carolina Coaches’ Association.
Whitley Culler (Mount Airy, N.C./North Surry HS) and Cameron Sealey
(Mount Holly, N.C./East Gaston HS), who will be roommates at Lenoir-Rhyne this
fall as well, were selected as two of the top 20 seniors in the state of North
Carolina by the members of the NCCA and played on the West Team
The West All-Stars defeated the East by a score of 78-73. Sealey scored
15 points on six-of-12 shooting to go along with six steals and three rebounds
while Culler tallied four points and four rebounds.
“It’s a great sign for the future of our program (to have two East-West
All-Stars coming to Lenoir-Rhyne),” said Lenoir-Rhyne Head Coach Todd
Starkey. “Cameron and Whitley are both very talented players that come from
great families and I could not be more excited about adding these two young
ladies to the talented team we already have.”
Both Culler and Sealey entertained offers from several NCAA Division I and
Division II schools before selecting Lenoir-Rhyne for their collegiate career.
“It speaks highly of Lenoir-Rhyne, the type of atmosphere that we have and
what we are about when two players of their quality chose L-R over other schools,”
Starkey added. “It is also great publicity for Lenoir-Rhyne as we continue
our transition from College to University.”
