Memorial, 49-47
Bears snap a six-game losing streak to South Atlantic Conference foes
Harrogate, Tenn. – The Lenoir-Rhyne College Women’s Basketball Team
(12-11, 3-8) held on to defeat Lincoln Memorial University (11-12, 2-9), 49-47,
Saturday evening at Turner Arena in Harrogate, Tenn.
Lenoir-Rhyne redshirt freshman LaCourtney Rann (Charlotte,
N.C./Hopewell HS) led all scorers with 14 points and hit the game-winning shot
with 12 seconds left as the Bears snapped a six-game losing streak to league
opponents.
Sophomore guard Amber Holt (Charlotte, N.C./Hopewell HS) and sophomore
forward Jacquelyn Kremer (Sevierville, Tenn./Sevier County HS) added 10
points apiece as Lenoir-Rhyne held Lincoln Memorial to just 33 percent
(14-of-43) shooting for the game and forced 24 turnovers.
The Bears also held the Lady Railsplitters without a field goal for the final
5:18 of the contest and scoreless for the last 2:42 of the game.
Lincoln Memorial, who built a seven-point lead (23-16) late in the first
half, was paced by Andi Winney (Yorktown, Ind.) and Megan Davis (Petersburg,
Ind.) with 10 points each.
L-R returns home to face Converse in a non-conference contest Wednesday
beginning at 6 p.m.
