Bryan Lentz, a former
Lenoir-Rhyne standout on the
basketball court and son of
Lenoir-Rhyne Head Men’s
Basketball Coach John Lentz,
is beginning his seventh season as an assistant
coach.
Lentz is beginning his first
year as an assistant coach
for the women's team as
well.
In addition to his coaching
duties, Lentz is
also the Coordinator of the McCrorie Fitness Center.
Lentz handles numerous
program responsibilities
including film exchange,
recruiting and scouting.
During the 2000-01 academic
year, Lentz worked in the
Hickory Public School System
and coached Hickory High’s
junior varsity basketball
team to the conference
title.
Lentz lettered for years for
the Lenoir-Rhyne basketball
team from 1997-00 and
finished his collegiate
career with 1,374 points
while cementing his name on
several L-R record lists.
His 388 assists and 159
steals both rank fourth on
the Bears’ career lists
while his .824 free-throw
percentage is No. 5
all-time.
Among Lentz’s honors include
South Atlantic Conference
Freshman of the Year
(1996-97, second-team
all-league (1997-98) and
team Most Valuable Player
(1998-99).
Lentz graduated from
Lenoir-Rhyne in May of 2000
with a bachelor’s degree in
sports management.
Lentz is married to the
former Christy Haynes, a 1999
graduate of Lenoir-Rhyne. Christy is currently
in her third year as an
elementary school teacher at
Lyle Creek in Conover, N.C.
Christy and Bryan reside in
Hickory. The couple has two
sons: Luke and Owen. |
