Lenoir-Rhyne Swimming Puts On A Couple Of Strong Performances At The Converse Tri-Meet Saturday

The Lenoir-Rhyne University Men's Swimming Team won four individual events last Saturday against Pfeiffer at Converse College in Spartanburg, S.C.

Spartanburg, S.C. - The Lenoir-Rhyne University Men's and Women's Swimming Teams had several solid performances last Saturday at the Converse Tri-Meet in Spartanburg, S.C.  The Bears' men's squad won four individual events as the team looks to keep building during its first season of intercollegiate competition.

On the women's side, Lenoir-Rhyne fell to Converse (181-65) and Pfeiffer (130-105) while L-R lost to Pfeiffer in a dual meet by a 165-83 score.

Lenoir-Rhyne sophomore Teddy Esch (Lenoir, N.C.) won both the 100-yard freestyle (50.41) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:00.16) events while sophomore Alec Reitzel (Hickory, N.C.) finished first in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:30.63

Finally, freshman Shane Courtney (Hendersonville, N.C.) won the 200-yard breaststroke for the Bears with a 2:31.05.

Lenoir-Rhyne next competes in the Fall Frenzy, hosted by Wingate, on Saturday in Charlotte, N.C., at the Mecklenburg County Aquatics Center.
