Hickory, N.C. - The Newberry College Men's Tennis (2-10, 1-5) picked up its first South Atlantic Conference win of the year and denied Lenoir-Rhyne University (1-14, 0-7) its first league victory of the season by prevailing, 5-4, Friday afternoon at Hickory High School.
Sophomore Michael Owens (Clinton, S.C.) won at both singles and doubles for Lenoir-Rhyne despite the setback.
L-R hosts Spartanburg Methodist on Sunday beginning at 1:30 p.m., before entertaining Brevard on Wednesday at 2 p.m., in its final league match of the season. Brevard's match will take place at Hickory Jaycee Park.
