Lenoir-Rhyne junior forward D.J. Blackmon was named the South Atlantic Conference Men's Basketball Co-Player Of The Week.
Rock Hill, S.C. Ė Lenoir-Rhyne Universityís D.J. Blackmon has been named the South Atlantic Conference Menís Basketball Co-Player Of The Week, league officials announced today.† Blackmon shares the award with Tusculumís Kyle Moore.
Blackmon, a junior forward from Albemarle, N.C., averaged 28.5 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists in leading L-R to a 2-0 week with a pair of wins over Carson-Newman (73-61) and Lincoln Memorial (75-73) last Wednesday and Saturday, respectively.
In the home win over the Eagles, Blackmon finished with 23 points, nine rebounds and six assists and became the 50th player in school history to cross the 1,000-point mark.
Blackmon capped the week off with a career-high 34 points in the Bearsí upset win over the Railsplitters on the road.
Blackmon, a 2008-09 Second-Team All-SAC honoree, currently leads the team in scoring (20.6 ppg), rebounding (6.7 rpg) and assists (2.5 apg) this year.
Wingateís Kurie Washington was named the SAC Womenís Basketball Player Of The Week.
