Rock Hill, S.C. – Lenoir-Rhyne University’s Amber Holt has been named the South Atlantic Conference Women’s Basketball Player Of The Week, league officials announced today. The senior guard from Charlotte, N.C., averaged 17.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists in leading L-R to a 2-0 week.
Holt started the week with a game-high 14 points in Lenoir-Rhyne’s 74-49 win over Brevard at home last Wednesday before leading all scorers with 21 points and five assists in L-R’s 69-57 triumph against first-place Newberry in a league showdown last Saturday at Shuford Memorial Gymnasium.
Holt, a three-time All-SAC First-Team honoree, ranks third in scoring (11.1 ppg) and second in assists (3.2 apg) this year for Lenoir-Rhyne.
L-R (15-6, 8-3) is now tied for first in the league standings with Newberry.
Brevard’s Jonathan Whitson has been named South Atlantic Conference Men’s Basketball Player Of The Week.
Lenoir-Rhyne hosts Carson-Newman in another key SAC contest on Wednesday beginning at 6 p.m.
