Hickory, N.C. – The Catawba College Women’s Swimming Team (5-3) knocked off Lenoir-Rhyne University (4-10), 161-78, in a dual meet Saturday afternoon at the Shuford Physical Education Center in L-R's lone home contest of the year.

Freshman Carlie Pendleton (Jamestown, N.C.) set a team record for L-R in the 500-yard freestyle as she posted a time of 5:27.60.   Pendleton finished second in the event behind Catawba’s Ashley Owens (Stockbridge, Ga.), who put up a 5:23.88.

Sophomore Lindsay Atkin (Hickory, N.C.) won the 50-yard breaststroke for L-R with a time of 32.81, the lone event an L-R women's swimmer prevailed in.

Lenoir-Rhyne will now prepare for the Bluegrass Mountain Conference Championships on February 17-20 in Charlotte, N.C.
