Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Basketball Knocks Off Lincoln Memorial, 91-74

Hickory, N.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne Women’s Basketball Team (12-4, 5-1) overwhelmed Lincoln Memorial (4-11, 2-4), 91-74, Saturday night at Shuford Memorial Gymnasium to remain unbeaten at home this year.  Sophomore guard Cameron Sealey (Gastonia, N.C.) led L-R’s offensive onslaught as she scored a season-high 20 points.

Senior guard Amber Holt (Charlotte, N.C.) added 19 points while junior guard LaCourtney Rann (Charlotte, N.C.) put up 18 points for L-R in the victory. 

Senior point guard Jami Safrit was poised all night as she tallied 11 points and six assists for the Bears.

L-R never trailed in the contest as it took a 12-point advantage into the break at 41-29.  The Bears shot 47 percent (15-for-32) from the field to go along with 60 percent (three-for-five) from beyond the arc in the first half while holding Lincoln Memorial to 29 percent (10-for-34) from the field.

L-R did not relent in the second half, stretching the lead out to as many as 27 points (80-53 with 7:49 left) en route to the 17-point win.

Lincoln Memorial was led by Carolyn Mills (Nashville, Tenn.) as she scored a game-high 25 points despite the loss.

The Bears also won the rebounding battle as it held a 50-30 edge as they improved to 6-0 at home in 2009-10.

L-R will travel to Jefferson City, Tennessee next Saturday to face SAC-rival and unbeaten Carson-Newman at 6:00 p.m.  Lincoln Memorial will travel to Salisbury, N.C., to face Catawba on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m.
