Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Basketball Season Opener Against Mount Olive To Be Simulcast

In an attempt to bring fans live broadcasts of all L-R Basketball action during 2009-2010 season, 99.3, The Lair, Red Zone Media and the L-R Sports Information Department are teaming up for simulcasts.In an attempt to bring fans live broadcasts of all L-R Basketball action during 2009-2010 season, 99.3, The Lair, Red Zone Media and the L-R Sports Information Department are teaming up for simulcasts.

Hickory, N.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne University Men’s Basketball Team will be live on the air this Monday for its season opener against Mount Olive in a non-conference NCAA Division II matchup. The Bears will set out to defend their 2008-2009 South Atlantic Conference Title beginning at 7:00 p.m., at Shuford Memorial Gymnasium.

The broadcast will be a collaborative effort between the Lenoir-Rhyne Sports Information Department and WLRZ 99.3 FM, The Lair.  The game will be simulcast, available on windows media player at www.redzonemedia.com and on your FM dial at 99.3.

A live pre-game show will begin at 6:30 p.m.

Assistant Sports Information Director Asa Moran and WLRZ Station Manager Josh Featherstone will be calling the action while L-R Men’s Soccer player Bart Keeler will help to produce the broadcast.

Moran formerly broadcasted basketball for Anderson University and most recently called games on Red Zone Media for the L-R Women’s Soccer Team in its run to the SAC Tournament Championship. 

Featherstone has called non-conference basketball action for the past two years and is the “Voice of the Bears” for L-R Baseball.

Keeler is a communication major and heads up all L-R volleyball broadcasting at WLRZ.

The broadcast on Monday will be the first of a series of simulcasts for all the Bears' 2009-2010 non-conference games.
