Rock Hill, S.C. – Lenoir-Rhyne University’s Meredith Lutz has been named the South Atlantic Conference Volleyball Specialist Of The Week, league officials announced today.  Lutz wins the award for the second time this year.

Lutz, a freshman setter from Newton, N.C., averaged 33 assists, 8.5 digs and 2.5 service aces in leading Lenoir-Rhyne to a pair of 3-0 sweeps over SAC-foes Mars Hill and Newberry last Tuesday and Saturday, respectively.  At Newberry Saturday on the road, Lutz tallied a double-double (34 assists and 11 digs) in leading the Bears to the league road win.

Lutz currently leads Lenoir-Rhyne (19-14 on the year) in assists (1,200) and services aces (42) for the season.

Wingate’s Stormi Gale was selected as the South Atlantic Conference Volleyball Player Of The Week today.

Lenoir-Rhyne, the seventh seed in the 2009 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Volleyball Tournament, will face second-seeded Carson-Newman of Friday beginning at 5 p.m., in Greeneville, Tenn.
