Liz Hawes Named SAC Freshman And Player Of The Year To Lead Three First-Team All-SAC Selections For L-R Women's Soccer

Liz Hawes becomes the first player in South Atlantic Conference history to be named Freshman and Player of the Year in the same season

Rock Hill, S.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne University Women’s Soccer Team had three total players selected as First-Team All-South Atlantic Conference performers at the Food South Atlantic Conference Soccer Championships on Friday at Manchester Meadows.

Elizabeth Hawes was named SAC Freshman of the Year and Player of Year, marking the first time in conference history both honors have been bestowed on the same player in the same year.

Hawes led the South Atlantic Conference with 17 goals, 0.50 goals per game and 41 points.  Hawes also had three different three-goal games for L-R.

Joining Hawes on the All-SAC First Team on the women’s side are sophomore forward Laura Linehan (San Diego, Calif.) and sophomore defender Catherine Hauck (Lake Mary, Fla.). 

Linehan was second on the team in scoring for the year as she tallied 11 goals and six assists.

Hauck helped to anchor the Bears’ defense from the middle and still posted seven goals on the season.
