Hickory, N.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne University Volleyball Team (18-14, 4-11) celebrated Senior Night in style with a 3-0 sweep of Mars Hill College (11-15, 2-13) Tuesday evening in a South Atlantic Conference match at Shuford Memorial Gymnasium.  The Bears won by scores of 25-19, 25-12 and 25-16.

Lenoir-Rhyne was led by sophomore outside hitter Brooke Christenbury (Statesville, N.C.) with 10 kills and a .625 hitting percentage while freshman setter Meredith Lutz (Newton, N.C.) added 32 assists and six digs as the Bears snapped a five-match losing streak.

Mars Hill’s Evie Tafunai (Edwardsburg, Mich.) and Laura Ann Huskey (Hendersonville, N.C.) each finished with seven kills and seven digs in the setback.

Prior to the contest, Lenoir-Rhyne honored its three seniors on the 2009 squad:  Elizabeth Flattery (Sparta, N.C.), Kassi Henry (Denver, N.C.) and Jordan Ledford (Newton, N.C.).

Lenoir-Rhyne closes out the regular season with a match against Newberry on Saturday at 2 p.m., in Newberry, S.C., while Mars Hill returns home to face Brevard on Friday beginning at 7 p.m.
