Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Lacrosse Wins Very First League Match, 20-3 Over Tusculum

Sixteen players scored for the Bears in the easy victory over the Pioneers

The Lenoir-Rhyne MenThe Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Lacrosse Team won its first South Atlantic Conference match in school history, 20-3 over Tusculum Saturday afternoon at Pioneer Field in Greeneville, Tenn.

Greeneville, Tenn. - It its first-ever South Atlantic Conference match, the Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Lacrosse Team (2-2, 1-0) defeated Tusculum (3-1, 0-1) with relative ease, 20-3, Saturday afternoon at Pioneer Field.

L-R junior attacker Ned Kaish (Atlanta, Ga.) finished with three goals and two assists and 16 players for the Bears found the back of the net in the victory.

Lenoir-Rhyne wasin control from start to finish, leading 8-1 at the break and scoring six goals in each of the third and fourth periods.

Lenoir-Rhyne redshirt freshman attackerCole Abourjilie (Greensboro, N.C.) and senior midfielder Sam Ashton (New Market, Md.) both scored twice as well for the Bears, who held the advantage in shots taken (41-22) and ground balls (36-21) in the win.

Tusculum, a first-year program, received goals from Jack Timerson (Newark, N.Y.), Mitch Chapman (Oshawa, Ontario, CANADA) and Ezra Carson (Worthington, Ohio).

Lenoir-Rhyne junior Alex Squires (Lawrenceville, Ga.) earned the win in goal but senior Steven McGhee (Durham, N.C.) totaled 10 saves in the second half for the Bears. For Tusculum, goalkeeper John Perrucci (Myrtle Beach, S.C.) suffered the loss despite making 11 saves on the day.

Lenoir-Rhyne returns home to host Mars Hill in a South Atlantic Conference match on Saturday, March 8, at Moretz Stadium beginning at 2:00 p.m. Tusculum hosts Post University on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
