The Lenoir-Rhyne University Cross Country Teams Compete In The Charlotte Invitational Friday

Charlotte, N.C. – Lenoir-Rhyne sophomore Kate Griewisch was the top NCAA Division II runner in the women’s race at the Charlotte Invitational Friday afternoon.  The Banner Elk, N.C., native ran a personal-best 17:44 over the 5K course and finished ninth overall out of 209 runners.  Both L-R teams ran in the meet.

The Lenoir-Rhyne Women’s Team finished 14th out of 23 teams while the L-R men’s squad placed 11th out of 21 schools.  Charlotte took home both the men’s and women’s titles.

Sophomore Tiffany Payne (Painted Post, N.Y.) was the Bears’ second-place runner in the race as she finished with a 19:52 for 85th overall.

On the men’s side, L-R freshman Patrick Ryan (Fort Myers, Fla.) ran a 26:40 over the 8K course to finish 51st while sophomore Jakob Maidens (Lebanon, Va.) was one place behind Ryan (52nd) with a 26:41.

Lenoir-Rhyne next competes in the Winthrop Fall Classic on Saturday, October 17, in Rock Hill, S.C.
