Lenoir-Rhyne's Max Loveland earns all-state honors in baseball

Hickory, N.C. - Lenoir-Rhyne University's Max Loveland has been named to the 2009 North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) College Division Baseball Team.

Loveland, a junior outfielder from Bradenton, Fla., batted .401 with seven home runs, 49 runs scored, 46 runs batted in and 23 stolen bases, all team-highs. One of the best all-around players in the region, Loveland also went 2-0 on the mound and tied the school record for saves in a season with seven. Loveland was named to the 2009 South Atlantic Conference and NCAA Division II Daktronics All-Southeast Region Second Teams as well.

Catawba (36-18), who won the 2009 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Baseball Tournament, and UNC Pembroke, who finished 37-17 this year, led the way with three representatives each.

Founded in 2002, NCCSIA is comprised of sports information professionals from North Carolina's NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA and independent institutions for the purpose of promoting college athletics in the state. Membership is open to anyone affiliated with a college, university or conference located in North Carolina whose responsibilities include sports information.
