Lenoir-Rhyne freshman Ned Kaish, a graduate of Walton High School, finished with a match-high five goals and an assist in a 22-10 win over Shorter Saturday afternoon in Atlanta, Ga.
Atlanta, Ga. - The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Lacrosse Team (1-4) picked up its first victory of the 2012 season with a 22-10 win over Shorter (2-4) Saturday afternoon at Walton High School.
Freshman Ned Kaish (Atlanta, Ga.) a graduate of Walton High School, led the Bears with a match-high five goals while redshirt freshman Connor Squires (Lawrenceville, Ga.) added three goals in the victory.
After falling behind by a 4-3 score after one period of play, Lenoir-Rhyne reeled of four straight goals to start the second stanza and never trailed again.
Freshman John Remsen (Oceanside, N.Y.) added two goals and two assists for the Bears, who held a 51-26 advantage in shots taken and a 38-24 edge in ground balls.
Shorter was led by Kyle Van Kausenberg (Acworth, Ga.) with a team-high four goals while Michael Matthews (Roswell, Ga.) scored three times for the Hawks as well despite the loss.
Lenoir-Rhyne freshman Alex Squires (Lawrenceville, Ga.) took the win in goal as he stopped 12 shots on the contest while Shorter's Erik Carson (St. Augustine, Fla.) made 20 saves in the loss.
Lenoir-Rhyne remains on the road when it travels to Misenheimer, N.C., to face Pfeiffer on Wednesday beginning at 3:30 p.m., while Shorter faces Walsh Monday at 6:00 p.m
