Six players score in double figures for the Bears in the victory

Laurinburg, N.C. - The Lenoir-Rhyne University Women's Basketball Team (9-2) defeated St. Andrews University (0-7), 88-33, Thursday afternoon at Harris Court.  Six players scored in double figures for the Bears, who defeated the Knights for the second time in as many games this year.

Junior guard Whitley Culler (Mount Airy, N.C.) led the way for Lenoir-Rhyne with 16 points and 11 rebounds while senior guard Cameron Sealey (Mount Holly, N.C.) added 14 points as the Bears registered their largest margin of victory since a 96-22 win over Davidson during the 1983-84 season.

The contest was never in doubt as Lenoir-Rhyne rolled to a 46-14 halftime advantage and led by as many as 58 points in the second half.

Sophomore forward Whitney Brinkley (Asheville, N.C.) scored 13 points for the Bears on five-of-six shooting and sophomore guard Danielle Bongiorno (Wilmington, N.C.) added 12 points and a team-high five assists as the Bears limited the Knights to just 21 percent (12-of-56) from the floor.

Lenoir-Rhyne also held a 59-30 edge in rebounding and forced St. Andrews into 22 turnovers.  The Knights were led by Kimayah Fulcher (New Bern, N.C.) with nine points despite the loss.

Lenoir-Rhyne does not play again until Wednesday, January 4, when it hosts Anderson in a South Atlantic Conference game at Shuford Memorial Gymnasium at 6 p.m.  St. Andrews remains at home to face Pfeiffer in a Conference Carolinas contest on Tuesday, January 3, beginning at 5:30 p.m.
