Lenoir-Rhyne Swimming Sets New School Marks At The Fall Frenzy

Bears are being led by several freshmen this weekend

Charlotte, N.C. - The Lenoir-Rhyne University Men's And Women's Swimming Teams have established several school records at the Wingate Fall Frenzy, which is being held this weekend at the Mecklenburg County Aquatics Club.

On the men's side, freshman Deaton Wright (Southern Pines, N.C.) swam a school-record 55.91 seconds in the 100-yard backstroke while freshman Cody Shaw (Winterville, N.C.) finished with a new mark in the 400-yard individual medley (4:21.42).

Freshmen Chris Tilque (Charlotte, N.C.) and Jay Stancliff (Advance, N.C.) produced new Lenoir-Rhyne records in the 50-yard freestyle (22.35 seconds) and the 100-yard butterfly (54.52 seconds), respectively.

Finally, freshman Kyle Hites (Lenoir, N.C.) finished the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:13.04, also a new program mark.

The Lenoir-Rhyne men's squad set new L-R marks in the 200-yard medley (1:41.39) and the 400-yard freestyle (3:24.98) relays and tied the record in the 400-yard medley (3:43.35).

For the L-R women, freshman Lakenn Reynolds (Elkin, N.C.) established a new Bear record in the 50-yard freestyle (25.26 seconds) as did freshman Chelsea Kyle (Knoxville, Tenn.) in the 100-yard butterfly (59.28 seconds).

The women's 400-yard medley relay squad also tied the program record with a 4:07.56.

Late Friday night, senior Megan Neubauer (Taylors, S.C.) set a new school mark in the 1,650-yard freestyle event with an 18:55 while the men's squad set a record in the 800-yard freestyle relay with a time of 7:09.99.

The final 16 events of the meet will take place on Sunday.
