Sophomore center Matt Kunz paced Lenoir-Rhyne with nine points and six rebounds in Lenoir-Rhyne's 81-44 loss to Davidson Saturday night at the John M. Belk Arena.
Davidson, N.C. - The Davidson College Men's Basketball Team dealt Lenoir-Rhyne University an 81-44 loss in an exhibition game Saturday evening at the John M. Belk Arena.
The Wildcats, an NCAA Division I institution, had four players score in double figures led by Nik Cochran's (Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA) 19 points while J.P. Kuhlman (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.) and Jake Cohen (Berwyn, Pa.) tallied 14 points each for Davidson, who held L-R to just 25 percent shooting (15-for-59) for the contest.
Lenoir-Rhyne was led by sophomore forward Allan Jones (Clemmons, N.C.) with 16 points and 10 rebounds off the bench while sophomore center Matt Kunz (Kernersville, N.C.) added nine points and six rebounds for the Bears despite the loss.
Davidson used a 15-1 run late in the first half to help build a 38-22 advantage at halftime and led by as many as 43 points late in the contest en route to the win.
Chris Czerapowicz (Gothenburg, SWEDEN) added a double-double for Davidson (10 points and 10 rebounds) and the Wildcats also held a 50-37 advantage on the boards.
Lenoir-Rhyne opens the regular season next Friday at the 2011 South Atlantic Conference/Conference Carolinas Tip-Off Classic in Gaffney, S.C. L-R will face Queens beginning at 5:30 p.m. Davidson hosts Guilford in its 2011-12 season opener on Friday at 8 p.m.
