L-R still searching for its first win of the year
Sophomore goalkeeper Stefan Dill allowed just one goal while making four saves in Lenoir-Rhyne's 1-0 home-opening loss to Lees-McRae Wednesday evening at the Moretz Sports - Athletic Complex.
Hickory, N.C. - The Lenoir-Rhyne University Men's Soccer Team (0-3) suffered a 1-0 setback to Lees-McRae College (2-1) in its 2011 home opener Wednesday evening at the Moretz Sports - Athletic Complex.
The Bobcats' John Williams (Rutherfordton, N.C.) scored the lone goal of the contest in the 10th minute when he won a loose ball and connected on a shot to the far post from about 17 yards out.
Lees-McRae held on for the win despite a flurry of offensive activity by Lenoir-Rhyne at the end of the match but the Bobcats were able to keep the Bears from scoring.
Lees-McRae goalkeeper Thomas Rusling (Sheffield, ENGLAND) picked up the shutout win after stopping five shots.
L-R sophomore Stefan Dill (Southampton, BERMUDA) suffered the loss in goal despite allowing just one score while making four saves.
The Bears, who are also searching for their first win of the year, held a 15-10 advantage in shots taken in the setback but couldn't capitalize.
Lenoir-Rhyne travels to Mount Olive, N.C., to face Mount Olive College on Saturday at 4 p.m. Lees-McRae hosts St. Andrews Presbyterian Saturday beginning at 3:30 p.m.
