Starkville, Miss. - The Lenoir-Rhyne University Softball Team ended the season ranked tenth in the country according to the final 2011 NFCA NCAA Division II Top 25 Poll. NFCA is the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.
UC San Diego received all 16 first-place votes and finished the year ranked No. 1 after winning the 2011 NCAA Division II National Championship, the first in school history.
Lenoir-Rhyne concluded the season with a 45-10 record (16-2 in league play) and won both the South Atlantic Conference Regular Season and Tournament Championships for the second straight year.
In addition, the Bears hosted and won the Southeast Regional Tournament for two years running
L-R also punched a ticket to the playoffs for the sixth consecutive season and earned back-to-back berths to the NCAA Division II Southeast Super Regional Tournament.
The Bears have compiled a 240-55-1 record (an 81.4 winning percentage) since the start of the 2006 season.
Since 2000, Lenoir-Rhyne has also won seven conference regular season championships (2000, 2004, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010 and 2011) and six league tournament titles (2000, 2001, 2002, 2007, 2010 and 2011).
