Sarah Minick and Victoria Velton each score twice for the Bears
Freshman Victoria Velton scored twice for Lenoir-Rhyne in a 17-8 loss to Edinboro (Pennsylvania) Friday afternoon at Moretz Stadium in Hickory, N.C.
Hickory, N.C. - The Edinboro (Pa.) University Women's Lacrosse Team (2-0) defeated Lenoir-Rhyne University (3-5), 17-8, Friday afternoon at Moretz Stadium.
The Fighting Scots' Victoria Smith (Rochester, N.Y.) led the way with a match-high five goals while Rebecca Zajac (Binghamton, N.Y.) scored three times as Edinboro remained undefeated on the season.
Trailing 11-3, the Bears scored three consecutive goals to cut the margin to 11-6 just before halftime but the Fighting Scots responded by scoring six straight times to take control en route to the win.
Michelle Zei (Barrington, Ill.) tallied 11 saves in goal in picking up the win for Edinboro, who also held a 42-29 advantage in shots taken.
Lenoir-Rhyne University does not play again until Monday, March 21, when it hosts Belmont Abbey College at Moretz Stadium beginning at 6:00 p.m.
