Joe Matthews is entering his first year as Graduate Assistant Sports Information Director at Lenoir-Rhyne College and his third working in the Sports Information Department. 

Matthews is an August 2007 graduate of Lenoir-Rhyne with a bachelor's of arts degree in sports management and a minor in communications.

Matthews will be the primary contact for volleyball, men's and women's soccer and softball for the 2007-2008 academic year.

During his first two years in the sports information office, Matthews covered many of the 17 intercollegiate sports that Lenoir-Rhyne fields including football, men's and women's basketball and softball. He was also the student manager for L-R women's basketball program during the 2003-2004 season when they won their first South Atlantic Conference Regular Season Championship.

A native of Lemon Springs, N.C, Matthews is a 2003 graduate of Lee County Senior High School where he worked extensively with many Yellow Jacket varsity programs including football, baseball and women's basketball.

Matthews will be pursuing his master of business administration degree at Lenoir-Rhyne.
