Hired in August of 2004,
Todd Lawing is beginning his
fourth year with
Lenoir-Rhyne and is the
school’s Associate Director
of Intercollegiate Athletics
and Director of NCAA
Compliance.
Lawing is the second-highest
official in the athletic
department.
Lawing was promoted to
Associate AD this past
summer after serving as
Assistant Athletics Director
in his first three years
with L-R and was also the
Director of Special Events.
Prior to Lenoir-Rhyne,
Lawing worked with his
family at Ken Lawing
Builders, Inc., in Denver,
N.C.
Lawing received his
bachelor’s degree in sports
management with a minor in
business administration in
the spring of 2000 and
earned his master’s degree
in business administration
in 2002, both from
Lenoir-Rhyne College.
While earning his master’s
degree, Lawing served as
Lenoir-Rhyne’s first-ever
athletic marketing intern
for the 2000-01 and 2001-02
academic calendar years and
lettered four seasons on the
baseball squad (1997-00) as
well.
Lawing is married to the
former Andi Penley, who is
also a graduate of
Lenoir-Rhyne (2002) and is
currently a fifth-grade
teacher at Webb A. Murray
Elementary School in
Hickory, N.C.
The couple has one daughter:
Kenna Elizabeth was born
November 26, 2006.
No stranger to the area,
Lawing is a native of
Denver, North Carolina, and
a graduate of East Lincoln
High School.
